"The importance
of balancing the amino acids to obtain the best possible protein
from foods, cannot be over stressed."
John D.
Kirschmann, Author - "Nutrition Almanac"
Amino acids are more plentiful than any other
substance in the body, next to water. They are one of the
most important elements for the maintenance of good
health and vitality are of primary importance in the growth
and development of all body components. All the tissues, bones
and nerves are made up mostly of Amino Acids. They are the
major source of building material for muscles, blood, skin,
hair, nails and internal organs, including the heart and the
brain.
There are (8) eight Amino Acids, which must
come from sources outside your body, because your body
does not manufacture them. If you do not supply your
body with all (8) essential Amino Acids your body
will not be in nature's perfect balance, which could
result in toxic buildup, disease, cancer, aids, and many other
health problems. The following information about the (8) eight
Essential Amino Acids explains why all (8) eight, are needed to
balance you body:
Isoleucine
-
Needed for hemoglobin formation and also
stabilizes and regulates blood sugar levels.
Leucine - Promotes the healing of bones, skin and muscles
and is recommended for those recovering from surgery. This
amino acid aids in increasing growth hormone production.
Lysine - Improves concentration and mental alertness.
Utilizes fatty acids required in energy production. It also
helps to control herpes simplex outbreaks.
Methionine - Is a powerful antioxidant. It is a good
source of sulfur, which deactivates dangerous free radicals in
the body. Also, helps in the breakdown of fats and helps reduce
edema.
Phenylalanine - Enhances sexual interest, improves memory
and alertness. Very useful in alleviating symptoms of
premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and is a very strong
anti-depressant.
Threonine - Helps to maintain the proper protein balance
in the body. It enhances the immune system by aiding in the
production of antibodies. It also helps the liver function more
efficiently.
Tryptophan - Combats stress, depression, insomnia and
aids in weight control. Research shows it helps relieve
migraine headaches and may reduce some of the harmful effects of
nicotine.
Valine - Needed for muscle metabolism, tissue repair and
the maintenance of proper nitrogen balance in the body. The
muscles use it as a primary energy source.
Please note: When the body receives
all (8) eight essential Amino Acids, your body
will then manufacture the other 15 fifteen Amino
Acids. The following information about the other (15)
fifteen Amino Acids explains why they are also needed to balance
your body:
Alanine -
Aids in the
metabolism of glucose, a simple carbohydrate that the body uses
for energy.
Arginine - Metabolizes body fat and tones muscle,
increases sperm count in males, aids in the healing of wounds
and has been shown to retard the growth of tumors and cancer.
Asparitic Acid - Improves stamina and endurance,
increases resistance to fatigue, and helps protect the central
nervous system. Low levels of this amino acid will result in
chronic fatigue syndrome.
Citrulline - Promotes energy, stimulates the immune
system and detoxifies ammonia, which damages all living cells.
This amino acid also helps keep the liver functioning properly.
Cysteine - Is the chief protein constituent of the
fingernails, toenails, skin and hair. Aids in the production of
collagen and promotes the proper elasticity and texture of the
skin.
Cystine - Helps to detoxify the system, aids in
protection from smoke, alcohol and heavy metals. It also helps
protect the body against X-rays and nuclear radiation.
Glutamic Acid - Is the main neurotransmitter of the brain
and spinal cord. Helps correct personality disorders and
depression. It is also used in the treatment of epilepsy and
Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD).
Glutamine - Used primarily as a brain fuel (improves
intelligence). Alleviates fatigue and is also helpful in the
treatment of arthritis, connective tissue diseases and
fibromyalgia.
Glycine - Retards muscle degeneration, relieves gastric
hyperactivity and has been successfully used in the treatment of
manic (bipolar) depression and can also help diminish
hyperactivity.
Histidine - Essential for the growth and repair of
tissues and is vital to the production of both red and white
blood cells. This amino acid helps protect the body from
radiation damage, aids in removing heavy metals from the
system and may help in the prevention of AIDS. Some
authorities believe Histidine should be considered an
essential amino acid.
Ornithine - Is necessary for proper immune system and
liver function. This amino acid also detoxifies ammonia and
helps skin stay healthy. Accelerates tissue repair and wound
healing.
Proline - Improves skin texture by aiding in the
production of collagen and reducing wrinkles associated
with aging. Also helps in the healing of cartilage, joints and
tendons.
Serine - Aids in the production of immunoglobulins and
antibodies that enables a healthy immune system. It is used as
a moisturizing agent in many cosmetics and skin care
preparations.
Taurine - Is the key component of bile, which is needed
for the digestion of fats, the absorption of fat-soluble
vitamins and the control of serum cholesterol levels.
Tyrosine - Regulates moods and combats depression.
Tyrosine is very successful in combating Chronic Fatigue
Syndrome and Narcolepsy. It suppresses the
appetite and helps reduce body fat.
